Both branches are closed for renovations expected to take about two years, according to the Brooklyn Public Library. They are among 12 Election Day poll sites citywide that were on the board’s June list and are not on today’s, according to the board’s poll site data; between the June and November elections last year, one site came off the list. Voters in the three election districts that used the two libraries cast 1,117 ballots in the November 2025 mayoral election, according to the board’s election-district results.

Election Districts 32 and 42 of the 53rd Assembly District, which voted at Bushwick Library, 340 Bushwick Ave., in June, are assigned today to the Bushwick/Hylan Center at 50 Humboldt St., about 700 feet away in a straight line, according to the board’s poll site assignment data. Voting there is in the auditorium, the board’s poll site lookup shows.

Election District 34 of the 54th Assembly District, which voted at Arlington Library, 203 Arlington Ave., is assigned to P.S. 108 at 200 Linwood St., about 900 feet away in a straight line, the board’s data shows. Voting is in the school cafeteria, and the accessible entrance is Exit 8 on Arlington Avenue, according to the lookup.

The Hylan center now serves four election districts, up from two in June, and P.S. 108 serves two, up from one, according to the board’s assignment data.

In the June primary, voters in the three districts cast 333 Democratic ballots, according to the board’s election-district results. Of the 1,117 ballots they cast for mayor last November, 788 came from the two Bushwick districts and 329 from the Arlington district. Those totals include early, absentee and affidavit ballots; the board’s results do not show how many were cast on Election Day.

Both branches had been Election Day poll sites in every general election in the board’s online poll site records, which begin in 2021, and in every primary except June 2024’s.

Bushwick Library “is closed for renovations,” according to the library, which says the project, starting in June 2026 and expected to take about two years, replaces the building’s heating and cooling systems and roof. Arlington Library, which the library describes as being in East New York, last served the public on July 24, the library says, and is closed for an infrastructure renovation also expected to take about two years. BK Reader reported in May that the Bushwick branch would stay open for in-person voting in the June 23 primary before construction began in full.

Three of the 12 sites citywide that came off the list since June are Brooklyn Public Library branches. The third is Midwood Library at 975 East 16th St., which the Brooklyn Public Library says on its branch page is closed for a capital project and is expected to reopen in 2028. Brooklyn Election Day sites that the board lists as public libraries fell from 16 last November to 14 in June and 11 today, according to the board’s poll site data. Between the June and November elections last year, the only site that came off the list was a senior center in the Bronx.

Polls are open until 9 p.m. Voters can check their site at findmypollsite.vote.nyc.
