Twenty-four players from New York Junior Tennis and Learning played on a temporary grass court at Wollman Rink in Central Park on Sunday, according to an NYJTL newsletter dated July 1. Wimbledon organized the installation to celebrate the opening of The Championships. NYJTL said it brought ‘the traditions and excitement’ of the tournament to Manhattan.

For many of the 24 players, it was their first time playing on grass, NYJTL said. The organization called it ‘a memorable experience on a one-of-a-kind court’ and thanked Wimbledon for welcoming its young players to the celebration.

Photos of the players on the court are posted on NYJTL’s Instagram.
