Rooftop Films and Indiewire have teamed up to bring a special sneak preview of the film Krisha to a Bushwick rooftop this Thursday, August 20 at 8 p.m. And the best part? It’s totally free. The screening will take place atop The Bushwick Generator (195-215 Moore Street), which is currently being developed by the team behind The Williamsburg Hotel.

The acclaimed indie film directed by Trey Edward Shults surrounds a troubled woman, Krisha, who returns home for the Thanksgiving holiday after years of absence.  She sees this time as an opportunity for forgiveness, but things take a decided turn for the worse as she cannot cope with the changes in her life. The film won the Grand Jury Award for Narrative Feature at this year’s SXSW festival.

Currently finishing up its 2015 summer series, Rooftop Films is a non-profit dedicated to showing great films in even greater places. Some of their venues include Coney Island and the Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens. Luckily for us, Indiewire is joining Rooftop Films to ring in their joint 19th birthday with this special screening in Bushwick.
