The workshop has been cancelled due to blizzard forecast on Monday night. Stay safe & warm!
It’s been six months since Bushwick Entrepreneurs Club came to life. With my friend Katja Bartholmess, an inspiring Bushwick-based entrepreneur, we decided to start an informal, inclusive platform that would allow all Bushwick entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs to meet on a monthly basis and to bitch and brag about their business.
Lead by the slogan: “Do good & do well,” we’ve organized several happy hours hosted by lovely Bushwick establishments such at Cobra Club, Pine Box Rock Shop, Alphaville or Sunrise/Sunset.
We undertook to organize quarterly workshops where our members could share their expert knowledge in slightly more organized fashion, and to enrich each other’s pursuit. We couldn’t have wished for a better partner than Livestream Public who offered to host all our workshops and to livestream them as well. If you attended our first workshop, you remember that we have joined forces with Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce who informed us about the bounty of untapped and often free resources they provide to entrepreneurs across our borough. From assistance with your and your employees health insurance to help with legal documents.
Our second workshop is coming up this Monday, January 26 at 8PM again at Livestream Public (195 Morgan Ave). From 8 to 8.30PM complimentary drinks will be served, courtesy of Livestream Public. Additionally, House of Juice whom you’ve might have seen at Shwick Market, has promised free samples of their delicious juices or Jun kombucha. (So definitely arrive on time.) After the open bar and friendly networking is over, we will proceed with three interactive sessions (15 and 20 minutes each) by our members:
#1 “Seal the Deal”
by Ben Cox & Anika Narula (Volunteers of Legal Service & Columbia Law School)
The presentation will give a brief overview of contracts as relevant from the perspective of business owners. They will discuss the essentials of a valid legal contract, the red flags to watch out for, as well as a few tips on contract negotiation and enforcement.
#2 “Look before you leap. Finding customers the Brooklyn way”
by Fikriyyah George
It happens to all of us-we come up with the greatest idea since the invention of ideas, but who’s going to buy your amazing product/service? This presentation will walk you through the process of creating an ideal customer profile the foundation you’ll use to keep customers flowing
#3 “Financing Options for the Small and Growing Business”
by Rawle E. Brown (Pace University Small Business Development)
Mr. Brown will discuss the various sources of funding for a business including how to access these sources and the criteria used in their decision making process. Special emphasis will be put on community sources of funding.
Bushwick Entrepreneurs Club meets every last Monday of month. The location and details are announces through our newsletter and on our Facebook group. DO REALLY WELL IN 2015 workshop is taking place on Monday, January 26 at 8pm at Livestream Public (195 Morgan Ave). If you can’t attend watch it live or from recording here.
