If you walked past Myrtle Avenue and Linden Street around 3:00PM on this blazing-hot Memorial Day, you probably noticed a swarm of fire trucks surrounding Sea Town Supermarket. Three fire engines had their ladders extended over the roof of the building. Firemen could be seen inside the supermarket, and some descended from the roof loaded with equipment. FDNY personnel on the scene said that, fortunately, the fire had been put out and that no one was hurt. One fireman said that the fire was apparently caused by a temporary electrical connection that had been rigged up to allow for nearby ConEd repairs. A ConEd emergency crew was seen working at the site this evening.

Passers-by look on as a fireman descends from the roof.
