Between Mr. Softee trucks, gelato from Circo’s and couple of ice cream joints in Ridgewood, the Bushwick area has been missing a good ice cream parlor. This is about to change with the arrival of The Evergreen Ice Cream Co., according to its owner Francisco Garcia. “The menu will feature scoops, sundaes, shakes, floats and a variety of baked goods, hot and cold beverages, snacks and local products. Paletas, handmade with fresh fruit juices, will be introduced at the start of the summer,” the press release states.

Francisco Garcia, born in Dominican Republic, and raised in Brooklyn, says that his goal was to create a neighborhood joint welcoming both the new and long-term residents of Bushwick, as he feels that “most entrepreneurs in Bushwick are excluding the traditional Bushwick resident from the target market.” “The Evergreen will be my spin on an ice cream parlor – one that will be as diverse as the population of Bushwick,” Francisco says in this press release.

The ice cream parlor is located at 144 Evergreen Ave (on the corner Jefferson), and is hosting a pre-launch social this Saturday, on April 6, 2013 featuring a free ice cream tasting. A limited number of tickets to this ice cream indulgence is available through Eventbrite, so book your ticket now. Something tells us they’ll be gone before you can say “waffle cone.”
