One of Brooklyn’s premier venues and recording spaces, Shea Stadium, closed its Meadow Street doors yesterday with an abrupt announcement on Facebook after a similar closure back in January of this year.
The text of the announcement certainly suggests the closure is temporary, but the work of complying with extensive city ordinances can take quite a bit of time and money.
The venue, in addition to hosting live shows, was also committed to recording live sets in their space to create a massive 8,000 track archive of live performances which can be streamed on SoundCloud.
Shows at Shea Stadium which were scheduled through the end of this month are relocating to Our Wicked Lady, Union Pool, Sunnyvale, Cape House, The Footlight, and The Knitting Factory so far, but many more shows don’t seem to have a home yet according to their Facebook events listings.
