After a successful first round of shows last weekend, the (Mr)s BK drag pageant holds its second round of competitions this Friday, Feb.10 at Gold Sounds in Bushwick.

Formerly titled (Mr)s Williamsburg, the event is produced by renowned Brooklyn drag performers Alotta McGriddles, Horrorchata, and Merrie Cherry. The competition provides a space for innovative entertainers to perform unconventional drag at several North Brooklyn venues over the next couple of weeks.

“I love that the (Mr)s BK pageant provides a platform for talent within Brooklyn nightlife,” says Harry James Hanson, aka Amber Alert, a former contestant and judge at round two of the competition. “By no means is (Mr)s BK a traditional pageant. I’m hoping to see immense creativity and a lot of fucked up glamour!” Hanson said.

Hanson also noted that this year’s contenders have big shoes to fill as past winners include Macy Rodman, Brooklyn pop sensation and judge at this years event, and Aja, a current contestant on season nine of Rupaul’s Drag Race.

Last Friday drag performer Megababe took the crown as Ms. Macri Park, decked out in a handmade futuristic, silver catsuit.

The event is sponsored by House of La Rue, and hosted by season eight Rupaul’s Drag Race contestant Thorgy Thor. It features several special guest judges including Acid Betty, also of Drag Race fame, and vendors such as NYC designer Tyler Wallach Studio

Gold Sounds is located at 44 Wilson Ave. The final round will be held at Metropolitan Bar in Williamsburg next Friday, Feb. 17.
