Northside Festival is back this summer! In its fifth year, the fest will feature over 350 bands will be playing in over 50 venues in Wiliamsburg, Greenpoint, and beyond. The festival runs from June 13th to 20th, and although it’s known for it’s big name music headliners (music portion June 13-16), it also includes film (17-20), and discussions and presentations (13-14). That’s a lot of activity for one week!
Northside is kinda like a super teeny mini multi-media SXSW in the heart of Williamsburg. We’ll be covering the music portion of the festival, like we did last year, which is very exciting! Headliners include The Walkmen, Solange, Swans, Mac Demarco, The Men, Bleached, Body/Head, and Black Flag. Accompanying them will be many local bands, like Friend Roulette, The So So Glos, Le Rug, Spires, Alan Watts, and Ava Luna. One thing attendees won’t have to worry about is variety – from the huge range of artists performing to the plethora of unique indoor and outdoor venues they’ll play in.
In preparation for the festival, you have the option to buy a badge (now just $80!) or purchase tickets to single shows (which run really cheap), plus there are lots of free shows going on as part of Northside. It’s up to you, just make sure you arrive early! Because there will be a superfluity of bands playing, we’re working on a detailed guide to help you make your way to the best shows! Check back with us as you ramp up for an incredible music experience at this year’s Northside Fest.
