Evil Twin Brewing wants to create a space that isn’t just for beer drinkers. Its new permanent brewery and taproom in Ridgewood opens October 2 with a 15-barrel system brewery, 1,450-square-foot urban greenhouse encompassing a 76-seat taproom, and a 185-seat outdoor courtyard and beer garden.

Founded in 2010 by Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø, the “nomadic” brewery has received wide acclaim both domestically and internationally, garnering countless awards and earning its way onto the menus of the world’s best restaurants.

Jarnit-Bjergsø, along with his wife and business partner, Maria Jarnit-Bjergsø, say they are excited to have the opportunity to perfect the classics and continue to innovate. At this location, the brand will continue to operate its large-scale production and distribution, which currently exports to over 35 countries around the globe and 35 states across the country.

“There are no rules in beer — we create our recipes with the intention of changing them,” Jarnit-Bjergsø said. “Our close relationships with chefs and restaurants serve as a daily inspiration to us. Building a composed dish is much like a brewing a new beer — you taste, you tweak, you experiment with flavors and balance. This is the evolution of brewing and this will be exemplified at Evil Twin Brewing New York City.”

The taproom is outfitted with earth-toned, stained plywood, polished cement flooring and modern finishes. Hanging plants and greenery further push the greenhouse aesthetic. The brewery’s design was a collaboration between both Jeppe and Maria and New York City-based architecture firm Kushner Studios (behind the design of Tørst in Greenpoint).

At Evil Twin New York City, guests can indulge in Evil Twin beers fresh from the source. Beers are brewed in-house and in small batches for the taproom and retail store only, and offered in 10 and 14 ounce pours.

Beer connoisseur’s will find a diverse selection of 20 drafts (with offerings being swapped out daily), and brews that honor New York City like, “Your Apartment is So Small, You Would Probably Find Something Larger for Less Money Outside of The City” and “That Yoga Studio Used to be a Really Cool Dive Bar.” For the most up to date offerings, visit their website

The brewery won’t just have beer, guests can also snack on pre-packaged treats like popcorn and Evil Twin Jerky™. Evil Twin has also partnered with Bushwick-favorite, Sey Coffee on a special blend, and rotating food trucks will even be parked outside. (For the schedule, check out @eviltwinbrewingnyc).

“The idea has always been to create a space for anybody and everybody,” said Corey Gargiulo, Manager of Evil Twin Brewery. “We’re not just trying to get the beer fans out here, we are trying to create a space to be comfortable for everyone. It’s may not be what you would think of a normal tap room, and that was the intention, it allows us to reach a broader audience,” he added.

Evil Twin Brewery New York City is open seven days a week and located at 1616 George Street, Ridgewood, NY. For more information visit their website and follow them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
