An Homage to McDonald’s at Clara’s Wins Best Neighborhood Burger

An Homage to McDonald's at Clara's Wins Best Neighborhood Burger

Last week we presented our readers with a poll to determine where to find the best burger in the neighborhood. And while Clara’s won our first ever Best of Bushwick poll for best wings, the Wilson Avenue spot seems to be a real winner in terms of all kinds of late night eats.

The newish bar garnered the most votes from unique IP addresses in our most recent, and quite contentious, burger poll.

Of course, we went to try the most popular Bushwick burger.

The winning Aristocrat burger is made with two all-beef patties, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions and a “special sauce” on a sesame seed bun. It sounds like the recipe for a Big Mac because chef Klein wanted to pay homage to the McDonald’s menu classic.

“The name of [our] cheeseburger is The Aristocrat. That was one of the early names of the cheeseburger that is now known as the Big Mac,” he said.

The burger does not disappoint. The pickles are amazing but not overwhelming, the bun is fluffy and absorbent, and while Klein refused to tell us what is in the secret sauce, it is the sauce what truly puts The Aristocrat over the top.

We also tried a few of Clara’s staple menu items: the asparagus, the jerk chicken wings and the classic chicken sandwich. All were amazing, and all are worth the trip.

So, if you’re ever strolling down Wilson Avenue and get a hankering for wings, burgers, and beer, make Clara’s your first stop!
