Have you heard? Tropical system Andrea is headed towards us threatening us with flash floods on Friday morning through Saturday afternoon, says The National Weather Service. In comparison with the insane heat during BOS last weekend, the weather seems to be moodier than a crazy banker boyfriend. However, there are a couple of good events planned for the end of the week in Bushwick and beyond, which will please mostly literary, burrito-loving crowds. (Unsurprisingly – NO ART SHOWS this weekend…)
#1 Concrete Fever Book Launch @ Brooklyn Fire Proof (Thursday 7PM)
As we mentioned earlier in the week, Nathaniel Kressen, a writer also published in Sunday Read, is launching his new book Concrete Fever this Thursday at 7PM. The event will not only feature a reading by Nathaniel, but also a performance by indie pop phenoms Teen Girl Scientist Monthly, and a line-up of excellent local writers, including our own Cat Agonis and Maggie Craig.
#2 HOT HOT Poetry Workshop @ Mellow Pages (Thursday 7-9:30PM)
Over at Mellow Pages, everybody who likes words and talking about words is invited to bring a poem they wrote and discuss it. For the best results, print copies to be shared with the audience.
#3 YogArt at The Living Gallery (Thursday 8:30-9:30PM)
Have you ever felt extremely creative after a yoga class to the extend you just wanted to grab a musical instrument or a crayons? Now you can do so at The Living Gallery’s Yoga Flow Followed By Creative Expression.
#4 Bklyn Burro Burrito Pop Up @ The West (Friday 5-10PM)
Mission-style burritos and tacos will be popping up this Friday at The West. Why should you care? Well, if you haven’t tried mission burritos (aka the real deal), you don’t know what you’re missing!
#5 Max Mc Ferren, Jamie Krasner, Volvox & John Barrera @ Bossa Nova Civic Club (Friday 10PM)
An excellent DJ mix is prepared for Friday night at Bossa Nova Civiv Club. Among others, Ariana Paoletti aka Volvox will spin your head away.
#6 Brooklyn Bike Night @ Cobra Club (Saturday 5PM)
The first ever NYC Harley Davidson’s Brooklyn Bike Night is going down this Saturday at The Cobra Club. There will be raffles, live bands, a custom bike photo booth, lots of leather, and an art show on view and live hair sculpting by Antoinette Johnson. We are already scared!
#7 Benge Bros DJs @ Mominette (Friday 10PM-4AM)
Did you know that French bistro Mominette has been having fun DJ nights? This Friday they have invited the Benge Bros to spin a collection of eclectic vinyls. Additionally, Mominette has a new courtyard with a bocce ball and a new chef who makes really delish food.
