Bushwick, you are in luck! The farmers’ market at Maria Hernandez Park that runs all summer is expanding thanks to a partnership between Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizens Council (RBSCC) and EcoStation:NY.

New locations include a Friday night market at 434 Troutman St. and a Sunday market at 553 Bushwick Ave. Brigette Blood of the RBSCC tells Bushwick Daily that “each market has a bit of a different vibe.” The Friday market won’t feature farmers themselves, but there will be fresh produce available in addition to the work of craftspeople and local artisans.

Blood adds that “the main focus of the RB Bushwick Farmers Markets is food and nutrition access as well as fostering opportunities for local economic development/small business entrepreneurs.” The additional markets will provide even more opportunities for local residents to buy fresh produce at reasonable prices.

This Friday will mark the start of the second week for all three markets, but vendor spots are still available. So if you make delicious food items, this might be the opportunity for you. Additionally, the market season this year will be longer than in previous years, meaning even more access.

Ramp and fiddlehead fern season is nearly over, but we’ll be gearing up for berries, corn, and summer squash before you know it!
