Brooklyn Cider House Opens Today in Bushwick!

After several months of delays and a dubious donation campaign, the long-anticipated opening of Brooklyn Cider House happens today.

A few weeks ago we reported that the cidery had a weird Kickstarter campaign to raise $28,000 for two artists to paint huge murals. At the time of the report, the cider house had eight days to raise the remaining $15,000 and we speculated that it wasn’t going to happen.

Sour apples to us, we were wrong. They raised $28,394.

The cidery, on the corner of Flushing Avenue and Melrose Street, is finally set to open within the 12,000-square-foot warehouse. We can’t wait to see those stunning murals.

According to a press release, Brooklyn Cider House will not only serve the company’s line of five ciders produced in Upstate New York, but will be a showcase for New York State cider, beer, and wine. They will eventually expand to ciders, wines, and spirits from around the world.

The food will be inspired by Basque cooking, including dishes such as chorizo braised in cider, dry-aged rib eye, and more. There will be two menus available in the dining room, each composed of 5 courses: $37 with meat and fish and a vegetarian menu for $32. The three dining rooms each feature long communal tables in the style of Basque cider houses, which are similar to German beer halls.

So cross that off your list, Bushwick. Brooklyn Cider House has arrived.
