Bushwick’s Michelin stars come and go. The neighborhood has a total of three between Blanca and Faro, but the Michelin Guide knows as well as Bushwick Daily does that there’s more good food out here than we can count on our fingers and toes, from Mally’s cecinas tacos to Guacuco’s pabellon arepa and Momo’s pork betty.
The bib gourmand list features restaurants where you can get two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less before tax and gratuity. Here are the 2017 picks in Bushick, East Williamsburg and Ridgewood.
Bunker Vietnamese, 99 Scott Ave.
Bunker, a mainstay on Michelin lists, made headlines recently when it announced the closure of its original location and finally set a date to move to a more central spot on Scott Avenue. Go for the papaya salad as soon as they open back up on November 29.
Falansai, 112 Harrison Pl.
This restaurant often flies under the radar, but its Vietnamese and fusion offerings pack a lot of flavor, and the cheerful, blue-walled space offers a welcome break from the “Brooklyn” aesthetic. Also, vegans rejoice— this menu is very friendly to your needs!
Roberta’s, 261 Moore St.
Everyone knows Roberta’s is good. You either love it, or you’re pretending you don’t. One of the best pizzas is the Bee Sting, a delicious blend of spicy soppressata and honey held together by gooey cheese. There’s no wait if you make it in before 1 p.m. on a weekend.
Happy dining, Bushwick gourmands!
