Bushwick Daily Is Hiring Freelance Writers!

Love hyperlocal news?

Do you have a passion for hyperlocal news and compelling stories? Then we want you to write for us.

Bushwick Daily is expanding, and we're looking for some new battle-ready freelancers to dive into the latest happenings in the neighborhood and craft well-reported stories.

Over the last month, we've given you breaking news about a Bushwick coffee shop selling marijuana-infused coffee, a new Starbucks in the Fat Albert Building, and tons of new bars and restaurants in the area. Our stories in March alone —  written by just a few dedicated, local journalists — were read nearly 200,ooo times. Exciting stuff.

We're committed to giving our readers a 360-degree view of the neighborhood and all the different people who inhabit it. That's why we want writers with ideas, honesty, and integrity to join our freelance team. We currently pay $20 per article, and we're working hard to offer more in the near future. But hey, at least it's something!

If you're interested in writing about food, restaurants, and bars, please pitch two-three story ideas that we haven't covered to our Food and Drink Editor Andrew Tobia at andrew@bushwickdaily.com.

If you're interested in writing about community issues and other news happening in Bushwick, —  or if you just like the dirty deets of city data — please pitch two-three story ideas that we haven't covered to our Contributing Editor Katy Golvala at katy@bushwickdaily.com.

If you're interested in writing in-depth profiles, personal essays, and feature-length stories, please pitch two-three story ideas to our Managing Editor Evan Haddad at evan@bushwickdaily.com.

In your pitches, please convince us why we need to be telling your story now, why it's important, and when you can write it for us. If we're interested in your idea, we'll be in touch.

Thanks for being great, Bushwick — we look forward to hearing from you!
