So while you were Xmas-ing, Kwanza-ing, and bitching about Hannukah being over way too early this year, all this happened in Bushwick. And we thought, you might wanna know....

First Brooklyn homicide of the year happened in... yes... you're right if you're guessing Bushwick. On New Year's Day at 3pm, a teenager was shot in front of the Borinquen Memorial Funeral Home on Bushwick Avenue near Pilling Street by a suspect from a passing car. [DNAinfo]

Francisco Garcia, the former owner of The Evergreen Ice Cream Co. and one of the owners of the building where it was located, sent us an email earlier today. The ice cream shop is no more. Francisco says: "I closed the shop to rent it out to a larger tenant." The new tenant is Chuko Ramen from Prospect Heights who will open a Bushwick spin off in mid-February, adds Eater. [our inbox]
