Summer is officially here, and so are the endless options for ice cream treats! Here’s a list to make your life a little easier in experiencing all that Bushwick has to offer in frozen treats!

Créme and Sugar

This Ridgewood based Peruvian joint is more than just an ice cream shop––it’s your go-to for all things Peruvian. Recently open for another summer season, Créme and Sugar offers a variety of native flavors like: lucuma, an orange fruit that tastes like butterscotch; maracuya, or known in the U.S. as passion fruit; vanilla pompano, a vanilla native to South America. While there, grab the tough to find “Inca Kola”—the most popular soda in Peru––some Peruvian blankets, hand-woven purses, or imported coffee beans from Peru’s Chanchamayo Valley.

Creme & Sugar is currently located at 58-42A Catalpa Avenue and only open on weekends, from noon to 8 p.m.  Keep updated on hours, events and additions to the menu via Instagram

Tipsy Scoop

Come to Tipsy Scoop for “everyone’s favorite icy dessert with a boozy twist.” After a successful debut in Manhattan, the “barlour” expanded into Williamsburg bringing 16 different boozy flavors along with them. With each scoop containing 5 percent alcohol content, fan favorite Dark Chocolate Whiskey, and the Watermelon Tequila Mint, are destined to cool you off with a nice buzz.

The Brooklyn Tipsy Scoop is located 270 Metropolitan Avenue.

Hours: Mon-Thur 1 p.m – 10 p.m. Fri-Sat 12 p.m – 12 a.m. Sun 12 p.m – 11 p.m.

Ollie’s Ice Cream + Stuff

At Ollie’s, ice cream isn’t only made for humans––our canine friends are able to indulge in chilly treats too! Just reaching a month old, the parlour has nearly 10 flavors––provided through partnerships with other local ice cream makers––such as Midnight Mint Chocolate Chip, Sea Salt Caramel and even a Nitro Cold Brew. Your furry companion will be treated to the all-original, Peanut Butter Pumpkin Butt, made of pumpkin puree—great for the digestive system—and no-sugar peanut butter for flavor, and a fat-free cashew yogurt for a creamy finish.

Ollie’s Ice Cream + Stuff is located at 158 Irving Avenue.

Hours: Tues-Fri 2 p.m – 10 p.m, Sat-Sun 12 p.m – 10 p.m, Mon-Closed

Circo’s Pastry Shop

If you’re a fan of traditional Italian gelato, look no further! Circo’s family bakery is just one of those neighborhood staples that have stood the test of time, witnessing all of Brooklyn’s evolutions––they’ve been serving the Bushwick neighborhood since 1945! Their flavors (a Bushwick Daily favorite: Nocciola) are old fashioned and perfect for a crisp summer day. In addition, grab a canoli or two, no one has ever said you can’t have both!

Circo’s Pastry Shop is at 312 Knickerbocker Avenue.

Hours: Mon 7:30 a.m – 7 p.m, Tues-Sat 7:30 a.m – 7 p.m, Sun 7:30 a.m – 6 p.m.

Rudy’s Bakery and Cafe

Also serving up some of the best Italian gelato in town, Rudy’s Bakery has cemented itself as a neighborhood veteran, arriving in Ridgewood well over 80 years ago (this year is its 85th). This old-school spot, saturated with character and history, is widely known for its Italian pastries and for its family-friendly nature––it’s been family-managed for nearly 40 years. Pro-tip: when you go, try the Cannoli flavored gelato!

Rudy’s Bakery and Cafe is located at 905 Seneca Avenue.

Hours: Mon-Sat 6 a.m – 8 p.m, Sun 7 a.m – 6 p.m.

If you ever find yourself at a Mister Sunday party, seek out Republic of Booza’s ice cream cart (only available on weekends at Nowadays), for their stretchy, textured chilled delight! Based in Williamsburg, the ice cream shop incorporates Sahlab and Mastic, two ancient ingredients, in their historic Eastern Mediteranean practice, of which they proclaim is the first recipe of ice cream. Booza claims that their ice cream melts slower, allowing for subtle flavors to be uncovered, and a richer tasting experience in each scoop.

Nowadays is located at 56-06 Cooper Ave.

Weekend Hours: Sat 12 p.m – 6 a.m, Sun 12 p.m – 12 a.m.

Tony’s Pizzeria

If you spend enough time in Bushwick, you start to pick up on a couple things: Tony’s Pizzeria is one of them. With their delicious in-house menu, Tony’s has managed to rack up several awards––including Bushwick Daily’s Best Pizza award! It doesn’t end at their slices though, whether it’s their Rainbow Cake gelato or their vegan sorbets, it’s all made in house! Salvatore Polizzi, manager of Tony’s, also let us in on a secret: he’s in Italy right now experimenting with a limoncello gelato, which he plans to showcase as soon as he’s back in Bushwick on July 15.

Tony’s Pizzeria is located at 443 Knickerbocker Avenue (Mon-Thur 9 a.m – 11:30 p.m, Fri-Sun 9 a.m – 1 a.m)

Mahalo New York Bakery

Opened in 2015, Mahalo is a popular Hawaiian-themed bakery that specializes in unique flavored cupcakes, ranging from “Pineapple Guava,” to “Mango Mango.” But don’t let that fool you, the ice cream is just as enticing! Covering all bases, you can enjoy more traditional flavors, like a cookie dough M&M, or go tropical with the “POG” (Passion Fruit, Orange, Guava).

If you’re feeling outside the bounds of traditional creamy texture, then go for the “Honeymoon Shave Ice,” a Pineapple and Lilikoi (Passion Fruit) shave ice with Pineapple Caramel Ice Cream and condensed milk!

Mahalo is located at 66-40 Myrtle Avenue. Hours: Mon-Fri 7 a.m – 7 p.m, Sat-Sun 10 a.m – 7 p.m.
