Brooklyn Cider House Debuts New Deck and Bar Menu

Brooklyn Cider House debuts outdoor seating area (dog friendly) and a new menu that couples Spanish-inspired food with Korean cuisine.

Ordained with a string of lights and a generous variety of seating, Brooklyn Cider House (BCH) debuts its new deck and bar menu just in time for the summer.

BCH has already established itself as a neighborhood mainstay by bringing traditional Basque-style cider accompanied by a Spanish-influenced menu. Peter Yi, the brainchild of BCH, partnered with his sister, Susan Yi, to bring this game-changing cidery to Bushwick.

Peter was originally a wine buyer who visited a sagardotegi in Spain that inspired him to change his focus from wine to cider. During his trip, Yi discovered that a sagardotegi transforms cider into a cultural experience when it is intentional paired with a food course.

“I had tried Basque cider, but I thought of it as just a beverage,” Yi states. “But on this particular occasion, I visited a cidery where cider was produced and served it alongside food. There was cider, there was entertainment and the food was spectacular, but not in a fancy way… It was almost a primitive way of eating, and the cider came together beautifully with the food. It was an experience that moved and transformed me.”

Since opening in December, patrons could only enjoy the sagardotegi experience with BCH’s prixe-fixe restaurant. However, this week BCH introduced their full bar menu that goes way beyond the traditional sagardotegi and offers many bar foods created to pair with the offered ciders, going beyond any specific cuisine.

This bar menu is designed by Peter Yi and sous chef Abel Hernandez that couples Spanish-inspired food with Korean cuisine, recognizing the sagardotegi’s Spanish origins and the founder’s Korean heritage.

Guests are warmly invited to BCH’s dog-friendly deck that is the perfect hangout spot to bring old and new friends or as the next place to impress a date. Bushwick residents can enjoy options such as pan con tomate y jamón serrano or pajeon, a savory Korean pancake. So, what are you waiting for?

Nos vemos pronto, Bushwick.
