EcoStation NY, the group behind Bushwick Campus Farm and Bushwick Farmer’s Market, is hosting an afternoon of Salsa dancing and salsa snacking at their farm this Saturday from 12-4pm.

The event will feature a free Salsa dancing lesson at 1pm with Ralphie Monroy of Lorenz Latin Dance Studio in Glendale. Then, attendees will learn how to make their own salsa by watching a demonstration filled with a local harvest of mouthwatering ingredients.

Capping off the afternoon is a salsa competition. If you think you can win, bring a quart of your secret recipe to the farm early. You do not want to miss an opportunity to be selected as the reigning champ of Bushwick salsa. Judging begins at 3pm.

Where can we sign up to be judges?

Kristina Erskine, Community Organizer/Youth Liaison for EcoStation, says, “Events like our Fiesta de Salsa y Salsa event build community through reconnecting Bushwick to food. By having a farm serve as an open and educational space, Bushwick can redefine what food means to them.”

Additionally, know that the farm itself needs volunteers to help with various tasks, including harvest for the weekly farmers markets near the Halsey J Station and Maria Hernandez Park. Regular volunteer hours on Saturdays run from 10am-4pm.

RSVP for Fiesta de Salsa y Salsa on Facebook—and enjoy!
