Mac DeMarco Sang Karaoke at El Cortez Last Night

Magdalena Waz

Mac DeMarco, musician and normcore fashion model, showed up to El Cortez last night and sang a karaoke rendition of Billy Joel’s “Just The Way You Are.”

It may seem like a weird dream you had, but it all makes sense if you take into account Brooklyn Vegan’s explanation of how the stars aligned to bring you the atmospheric video shot by Dana Distortion.

You see, Slowdive, a shoegazey and recently reunited British band, hosted an afterparty at El Cortez following the first of two shows at Brooklyn Steel. Mac DeMarco happened to also be in town shooting a video for Pitchfork to promote his brand new album “This Old Dog.” Then, worlds collided, and we got this little, trippy gem:

If you want to see Slowdive tonight at Brooklyn Steel, it looks like tickets are already sold out, but keep your ears to the ground or to twitter for an announcement of where the band may go after and what kind of chill wave entourage they’re brining with them.

Check out Slowdive’s performance on Pitchfork Live below:
