Learn How to Box, Then Watch “Rocky” on an East Williamsburg Roof Next Wednesday

Are you ready to rumble, Bushwick?

The East Village boxing club Overthrow New York located at the site of the famous Yippie Cafe is coming to East Williamsburg next week to teach moviegoers a thing or two about the “sweet science.” The class will be held on a rooftop just before dusk, and will be followed by a screening of the classic 1976 boxing film “Rocky.”

The screening and fighting lesson will take place on the evening of Wednesday, August 24 at the home of the summertime screening series Rooftop Cinema Club atop the OfficeOps building at 57 Thames St. at Knickerbocker Avenue.

Tickets cost $19, and doors to the roof will open at 6:30 p.m.; the boxing class starts at 7 p.m., and the movie starts at 8 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m.

Overthrow takes its name from a magazine run by the Youth International Party in the ’70s and ’80s, the same era from which the Sylvester Stallone film dates.

Find yourself a [tough] date and get ready to take it to the roof!
