Performance about jealousy via abstract relationship of mockery from the perspective of 20-something ladies, Green Eye-d took place this past Friday, on May 31 during BOS. DiBa and Ashley Mathus (who also writes for Bushwick Daily) premiered their new work at Pine Box Rock Shop. “We wanted to turn the tumultuous, heady and often desolate feelings of jealousy into a movement generated conversation,” Ashley said.

During the creative process they asked each other questions like, “What do we do when we’re angry?” and “What’s an exaggerated (or not) point of view from a lover?” Some of the text was also taken from heated conversations in the Bushwick kitchen the performers share. Through choreographed and improvised dance, video and spoken word, they aimed to express the ridiculousness of jealousy through humor. “Sometimes I feel like a velociraptor,” DiBa said.

Green Eye-d wouldn’t have been nearly as epic without the collaboration with Brooklyn light artist, Matt Richard who prototyped a wearable design by attaching 2 x 5 milliwatt green lasers with two layers of diffraction film to swim goggles. His light wizardry enabled Green Eye-d  performers to keep building and folding in on itself, until the only way they could top their rants was to whip out the lasers. LASERS.
