New York State Assemblymember Stefani L. Zinerman announced on Tuesday, October 27, that she will seek reelection to the 56th Assembly District through a write-in campaign in the November 3 general election, responding to residents of Bedford-Stuyvesant and Crown Heights who urged her to stay in the race after the June Democratic primary.
Eon Huntley, who beat Zinerman 9,004 votes to 5,627 in the June 23 Democratic primary, according to certified New York City Board of Elections results, is the only candidate printed on Tuesday's ballot for the seat, on both the Democratic and Working Families Party lines, according to the board's contest list. Huntley told NY1 in a statement, “The voters settled this issue in June…This is not a time for sideshows.”
