New York Games Week, a citywide games industry week organized by Playcrafting, will run October 4 through 11 with developer panels, indie showcases, business programming, pitch nights, parties and community events spread across the five boroughs, the organizers announced September 21. Details are posted at nygamesweek.com.
The week gathers developer panels, indie showcases, business-to-business programming, pitch nights, parties and community events at venues across all five boroughs, organized by a team of game industry professionals, according to co-founder Krysti Pryde.
Pryde said the goal is to uplift the current game developer community while turning New York City into a destination on the global games industry calendar, and to make the city a place people want to live and make games. She described the format as “London Games Week meets New York Tech Week.”
The event is backed by the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and NYCEDC, Pryde said. Confirmed partners include the NYU Game Center, the Fashion in Gaming Awards, Game-a-Palooza, Game Design Future Lab, New York Comic Con, SEGA and Latinx In Gaming, with more partner announcements to come, according to the organizers.
Pryde said the team is still building out programming as the week approaches. Individual event listings are posted at nygamesweek.com.
