Dunno about you guys, but I personally am not yet jaded enough to just ignore a seriously well-executed yarn bomb. In fact, I squeal, and I squeal particularly loud whenever I see something made by London Kaye. Like say a gigantic crocheted mural at a wall at Bushwick Flea (52 Wyckoff Ave, Bushwick) titled “Moonshine Kingdom.”

At Bushwick Daily we’ve been crushing on London since her Eye Phone appeared on 30 Wyckoff Ave. Now this classically trained dancer-turned-yarn bombing mastermind literally out-crocheted herself.

“I think it is the largest crocheted mural to date!! Each character is 15 feet tall,” London Kaye emailed us about her piece, inspiration for which comes from Wes Anderson’s movie Moonrise Kingdom as well as from The Shining.

“Sam, the innocent scout from Moonrise Kingdom is holding hands with the twins from The Shining. It is just showcasing young love,” London laughed.

London who lives down the block from Bushwick Flea told us that she likes to pop in every once in a while. One time she saw a couple of artists painting the wall at the market, and so she eagerly inquired about having the other wall for herself. “I wanted to do something different, and stretch myself. It was a challenge, but a fun challenge for sure,” London explained.
