Bushwick, we have a new destination to get beautified! Wild Oleander, a beauty bar located on Varet Street inside the old Fox and Fawn Vintage space, had its soft opening about three weeks ago.
Wild Oleander is primarily a nail salon specializing in nail art. The very talented artists are well-trained in hand-painting the ten tiny canvases that are your fingernails. Classic manicures start at $25 and gels at $40. Other services include waxing, lash tint, microblading, mini-facials, and limited hair services on occasion.
Stepping inside is entering a 1970s inspired tropical paradise. The massive half-basement location is washed in a neon pink-yellow glow. All the décor is handpicked and genuinely vintage. The walls are adorned with floral wallpaper and old Playboy Magazine covers.
One huge highlight that sets Wild Oleander apart from your standard mani/pedi spot is its vintage shopping corner.
“I wanted to have a place where you could shop and hang out,” says Sandra Hatton, owner and visionary behind this exceptional space. “I like the idea of having something to do while you’re waiting.”
The clothes are all sourced from Hatton’s close friend Nicole Alyse, the owner of American Gypsy Vintage. Expect lots of very affordable Hawaiian shirts, denim cutoffs, and clothes with a ’70s flair.
Because the space is so large, Sandra plans to utilize it for so much more than just nails. It is perfect for large groups and events. You can look forward to everything from tarot readings to singer-songwriter evenings.
Wild Oleander is still in soft-opening mode but their official grand opening party takes place on July 12, from 7-10 p.m. Swing by and immerse yourself in this unique space!
