Mass Roundup: 5 Bushwick Churches to Visit this Easter Sunday

Bushwick has people of all walks of life, and many, beautiful community churches

Bushwick has people of all walks of life, and many, beautiful community churches. If you live in the hood and would like to share this Easter Sunday with your neighbors, here's a list of some places to visit:

This non-denominational church focuses on helping the homeless and economically disadvantaged in our neighborhood. Everyone is welcome, and it's a very community focused-parish. Prayer starts at 10:45, and worship at 11AM. It's also a place you may want to consider getting more involved with in the future, as their mission is to assist those in need in Bushwick.

Bushwick, a very historical part of Brooklyn, is home to this beautiful church that was originally organized in 1851! It features a grand steeple and two iron towers. When it was founded, it was one of the only large, organized structures in a desolate area. If you're into history, this would be a fantastic place to visit this Easter.

۩ Christ Tabernacle @ 1022 Wyckoff Avenue

Christ Tabernacle has a 12PM prayer for all of you late sleepers! It's also very open to those new to faith, and has even written a blog post about inviting people to church on Easter. As they put it: "...Just know that our Easter presentation 'The Great Unknown' will be featuring three powerful testimonies that will speak to everyone in his or her walk of life whether they grew up in church or didn't; no matter what their struggles are or were."

For those with families, you can also join them on Saturday for their 4th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Food Bazaar on Wyckoff Ave.

۩ Bushwick Abbey @ Radio Bushwick, 22 Wyckoff Avenue

Pastor Kerlin Richter leads the Sunday morning worship prayer service at the Radio Bushwick space.

The self-proclaimed "Church that doesn't suck" "is a queer-friendly Christian community celebrating faith, art, and justice on the L line." Church members are encouraged to introduce themselves during service, and hang out after for coffee and conversation. Service is this Sunday at noon. You're encouraged to come as you are, and celebrate the gifts given to us in life.

۩ St. Mathias Church @ 58-15 Catalpa Avenue

This Roman Catholic Parish is highly-organized and has many services and events. On Easter Sunday, they have and 8:45 German Mass, 9:30 Polish Mass, 10:00 English Mass, and 11:30 Spanish Mass. It's also a very beautiful church with extraordinary features that has recently undergone many renovations.

Please also feel free to give your local church a shoutout in the comments! We'd love to hear about your parish and why you love being part of the community.
