Doorman's Package Delivery Service Expands to Bushwick
The newly-expanded service promises to save you time at the post office.
Shipping and receiving packages is supposed to be fun or exciting at the very least, but in Bushwick, it is more often than not a nightmare. Doorman is a recently launched service hoping to ease the pain of those of us with no doorbells and no reliable way to receive shipments.
Doorman launched in San Francisco in 2013 and moved to New York in 2015, serving only Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Lower Manhattan until this week.
Chris Gadek, one of the company's representatives, says Doorman had "received thousands of requests to open up these areas, especially in Bushwick. Many folks have stated that the area has been grossly underserved since Parcel shut down its consumer package delivery business in order to start serving retailers and business partners."
Now, they're in "Bed-Stuy, Park Slope, Boerum Hill, Bushwick, Clinton Hill, Cobble Hill, parts of Crown Heights, DUMBO, Fort Greene, Prospect Heights, and Vinegar Hill." You can see the complete coverage area here.
All you have to do is ship your packages to a specific Doorman address and wait for notification that it is in their shipping center. Then, the service promises deliveries within a one hour window that you can schedule through an app on your phone between 6 p.m. and midnight daily.
The monthly plans appear to be a much better deal than their "a la carte" service, which costs $5 for every visit and and additional $2 for every package, so you could save by bundling your shipping to get only one delivery of several packages. Monthly plans will cost you anywhere from $20 to $79 with specific limits on the number of visits and packages delivered.
Bushwick Daily readers who are itching to get out of that line at the post office due to yet another missed delivery slip can use the code BWDAILY for $20 in services between now and April 21 on the Doorman website.
