The Groundbreaking Art and Technology Org, Eyebeam, Will Move to Bushwick This Fall

The move reminds us that Bushwick is still at the top of its art game!

Since its founding in 1997, Eyebeam has become the premier new media research and art organization with robust youth education programs and a residency to nurture artists working at the intersection of art and technology. And after a three year stint in Sunset Park, Eyebeam is moving to an undisclosed location in Bushwick.

The current director, Roddy Schrock, announced the move via Medium last week. He says, "This new chapter is extremely exciting because our new space in Bushwick allows us to be public in whole new ways, to double down on our core values of openness, invention and justice. We see this new home as an opportunity to continue to 'fund the unfundable' by nurturing projects that are on the horizon of what is possible."

When the organization first got its start, their offices were located in Chelsea, a Manhattan neighborhood which has epitomized what happens when an art neighborhood becomes too expensive for the artists.

The new Bushwick space will offer more visibility than their current/interim Industry City location. Street traffic will be a major component of the organization's plan to bring visibility to the work of their artists in residence who have won multiple awards for their innovative work in computer and interactive art.

While the new location is currently under wraps, we can tell our readers that we'll have an update very soon with more details regarding where you'll be able to catch some of the most exciting new media work in the United States come November!

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, pencil November 30 into your calendar for Eyebeam's grand opening party!
