The second week of January means that not only have we finally sobered up from crazy Bushwick New Year’s Eve celebrations, but that it’s also time to get serious about our New Year’s resolutions. However corny as it sounds, the beginning of the new year is the perfect time to set the intention for how we want our 2014 to turn out. And while it’s true that we can’t influence every single aspect of our life situation, we can most certainly influence how we feel about the circumstances of our life. Being happy, healthy, strong and content with where we are at the moment will simply be more enjoyable. Here are our eight resolutions to make the journey ahead easier for you!
Resolution #1: Join the Bushwick Food Coop!
Everybody knows that eating healthy food is a key component to good overall health. The good news is that buying organic food responsibly produced at local farms and factories doesn’t have to be a disaster for your wallet. Just become a member of Bushwick Food Coop, and you can start enjoying their low, 24% product markups, which are a fraction of what you would pay in a bodega or supermarket (60–100%). A one-time fee of $50, and a 4 hour per month work requirement are all it takes to start enjoying good, affordable, locally sourced food and a sense of participating in a worthy community. You can work in store as a cashier or greeter, or you can become a part of a committee and utilize your skills however they seem fit.
