In spite of all the astronomical shenanigans, the winter solstice is just around the corner. Days will officially start getting longer, and that means it’s time to celebrate!
The best way to festivize any celestial occasion is to fill your tum-tum with delicious food and then drink beer until you pass out, or until you stop drinking. And thankfully, there is a whole freaking festival in Bushwick where you can indulge in solstice-y drinks and funky winter’s-finally-here foods.
Lola Bites, a new local pop-up/small-scale catering company that’s just started to find its footing at The Sampler, will be selling some of that food at the 2013 Winter Solstice Festival, flanked by Tandem, Taqueria El Paisa, Green Street Salads, Pine Box Rock Shop, Northeast Kingdom, Fine & Raw Chocolate, and much, much more.
The Solstice celebration will be benefiting EcoStation:NY, which encompasses the Bushwick Farmer’s Market, Bushwick Campus Farm, and Farm-in-the-Sky. So if fresh food and food education, local food justice and urban agriculture are things that compel you, drop by the Solstice Festival and celebrate “light, life, friendship, and food!” General Admission is $25 and includes unlimited food and a cash bar. And for $50 dollars you can score unlimited food and drink!
