Legendary Brooklyn band TV on the Radio surprised fans with a secret show at Ridgewood’s iconic rock venue, TV Eye. Announced via their Instagram story, the show featured a $5 cash cover, marking their first live performance in years and an unexpected kickoff to their comeback.
While a surprise show in Ridgewood might seem unexpected, those familiar with the neighborhood won’t be surprised by the choice. TV on the Radio has deep ties to the Bushwick and Ridgewood area, with collaborator Kareem Bunton opening the popular bar Bunton’s World Famous in 2019.
The band is set to play Webster Hall next week, where front-row tickets are currently going for nearly $900. It’s no shock that those in the know showed up to experience this once-in-a-lifetime comeback set. Videos captured from the event show the band sounding incredible and fully in their element, delivering an unforgettable performance.
Bushwick Daily has covered TV Eye before, including Michael Imperioli’s performance in January 2023. Readers also voted TV Eye the best venue in Bushwick (Ridgewood) in the Best of Bushwick 2021 awards.
Formed in Brooklyn in 2001, TV on the Radio (TVOTR) is composed of Tunde Adebimpe (vocals, loops), David Andrew Sitek (guitars, keyboards, loops), Kyp Malone (vocals, guitars, bass, loops), and Jaleel Bunton (drums, bass, vocals, loops, guitars). The band’s late member Gerard Smith (bass, keyboards, loops) was an integral part of their lineup until his passing in 2011.
If you missed the show at TV Eye, don’t despair! The band has announced that a limited number of tickets for Webster Hall will be available at will call on a first-come, first-served basis.
