With local events such as Exploding in Sound’s CMJ Showcase on Friday at Palisades, AdHoc’s Car Wash show off Lorimer on Saturday, a sprinkling of new art shows around the neighborhood, and the opening up of a bunch of new coffee shops (such as Dweebs), the list of fun things to do this weekend is certainly long. However, there is another event that is definitely worth checking out.

This Friday, October 16 from 6-9PM at Alt Space off the Montrose stop, Crybaby Zine will hold its Summer Issue Release Party, which will be an awesome evening of zines, music and more. Guests can also expect a performance from NY-based singer, ELLA.

Crybaby Zine, which was started by 16-year old NJ-based Remi Riordan, features photography, poems, stories, collages, illustrations and a bunch more by teens located all over the country. The zine also showcases young creative females from around the globe and occasionally holds meet-ups in the city that involve goodie bags, CD playlists and stickers (aka all things good). In other words, it is the zine that I wish was around during my high school years.

Whether you are a teen, or just a zine fan, be sure to come out, show your support and have a great time at Alt Citizen‘s space!
