This week’s Friday First features Brooklyn electronic, indie rockers Late Guest at the Party and their second LP Repeater, out July 15th. Friday First is a weekly column devoted to premiering new music from local, national, and international artists.
Go ahead and add Late Guest at the Party to your list of delicious things that have found their way to New York by way of Italy. This handsome 4-piece is bringing electro-beats and catchy lyrics over the Atlantic guaranteed to hit the spot – just like that late night slice of pizza.
As with most Italian imports, New York has a way of perfecting things. LGATP made their voyage to NYC and hunkered down with lead vocalist/producer Caleb Shreve (Phantogram, Shy Child, Bear Hands, Ra Ra Riot, Wu Tang Clan) to record their latest album, Repeater. Bringing Shreve on board shifted their previously poppy, indie rock sound into a true melting pot of music. The sophomore LP is a superb dance party, packed with dark-wave synths, bulging bass lines and shout-out-loud lyrics (Give “Atmosphere” a listen!). Citing Gorillaz and LCD Soundsystem as major influences, the playful punk attitude shines through the haze of electronic elements.
Repeater features collaborations with Kenan Bell, Hesta Prynn, Randy Shrager and Slam Donahue. If you missed the boys and their LP release party at Pianos last night, be sure to follow their Facebook page for upcoming shows in the area!
