The Stargazer Lillies grace Brooklyn next week as part of the Graveface Roadshow with fellow labelmates The Casket Girls and Dreamend, a show put on by Graveface Records, based out of Savannah, GA (a very musical town). The band’s dreamy yet dreary 2013 record, We Are The Dreamers, was “curated” by Tobacco, the brain behind experimental, electronic, and otherwise inventive band Black Moth Super Rainbow. Stargazer Lillies’ music is simple and experimental at the same time, minimal in sound yet filled with noise, a sound shaped by walls of reverb, a droney lag slowing the songs’ beats to a surreal pace. According to them, the essence of their sounds is”butterfly wings, slowly beating guitars enveloping the listener, ethereal breathy female vocals floating on a melody , rocked out bossa nova beats and bad ass bass throwing down the rhythm.” Poetry aside, their sound is captivating, full of nostalgic shoegaze and haunting melodies, creating a soundscape from a far-off dystopia that you’d read about in a tale. That pretty much guarantees a great show, right? Plus, bonus: they perform live with two drummers. See them Monday at Shea Stadium- tickets are $8.
