Call for Nominations: Bushwick’s Best Sandwich 2021

Call for Nominations: Bushwick’s Best Sandwich 2021

Beautiful, beautiful sandwiches. They come in so many delicious shapes and sizes. Can I call them the best food group?

Every different occasion calls for a different sandwich. Heading to Maria Hernandez to sit in the sun on a hot summer day? I’ll take a cold Italian sub, please. A chilly fall Saturday morning? How about a hot sausage, egg and cheese.

There are so many debates about what constitutes a sandwich. But for the purposes of this competition, I’m accepting anything with fillings that come pressed between bread. So yes, in this competition, a cheeseburger is a sandwich. And, with a bit if hesitation, I’ll even count a hot dog. Falafel sandwiches, yup, those are fine. But I draw the line at tacos and burritos. Those have their own categories in this competition.

It is time for nominations!

Who serves the best sandwich in Bushwick?

I don’t care if it is served on a silver platter or handed to you over the counter at a corner deli. If it is between two slices of bread or a roll, bun or pita, nominate it!

But remember. This is a competition for the best sandwich in Bushwick, not the best sandwich place. So, when you’re nominating, please write the name of the sandwich and the store or restaurant it comes from.

So, what is the best sandwich in Bushwick? Let us know in the comment section below! Or, email your nomination to the editor: [email protected]

Nominations close at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8.
