It’s A Local Holiday Shopping Guide

Holiday season is almost about to hit and the best way to avoid big chain stores and Amazon and the best way to do that is to stay local. Here’s a few great local shops to get you in the spirit of buying things.

For the person who never has enough clothes: OPC

Bushwick is full of amazing vintage and thrift stores, but since the opening of their new Bushwick location, OPC has become a personal favorite. Great deals, unique finds, OPC is great. They also have amazing accessories and beauty products that are sure to be a big hit. They also have gift cards, which are cool.

OPC’s Bushwick location is at 333 Troutman Street.

For the candle lover: Nose Best

Signage on the outside of Nose Best reads “candles and cute shit,” and they do not disappoint. It’s the perfect place for last minute shopping, as they not only have excellent handmade candles (complete with a QR code at the bottom that gives you a unique playlist and cocktail recipe), they also have used books, accessories, clothes, and more.

Nose Best is located at 96 Knickerbocker Avenue.

For the wine lover: Irving Bottle

If adulthood has taught me anything, its that when in doubt, just get a bottle of wine. And Irving Bottle always has a great selection of local and natural wines. They also offer gift cards and a wine club subscription, so you can give the wine snob in your life something to look forward to every month.

Irving Bottle is located at 155 Irving Avenue.

For the person with local pride: Stay Forever

Stay Forever is my favorite shop to just wander into (and wander out with a few items I didn’t plan on getting). It’s a classic gift store with everything from home goods to accessories. Plus, they have so many great pieces that show some love to Ridgewood and Bushwick, so it’s perfect for someone that loves bringing local pride to the neighborhood.

Stay Forever is located at 818 Woodward Avenue.

For the book lover: Topos

Whenever I go to Stay Forever, I usually hit up Topos on my way home, because its a block away. Choose from new and used books and have a coffee too. They always have great selection and reasonable prices too, plus a small selection of notebooks, pens and more.

Topos is located at 788 Woodward Avenue.

For the chocolate lover: Fine and Raw

Local chocolate? Yes please! Check out Fine and Raw for unique and delicious chocolates and sweets. Their bars and spreads make for great stocking stuffers, but they also sell gift boxes, packaged to give to the chocolate lover in your life. Gift cards, merch, and subscriptions too.

Fine and Raw is located at 70 Scott Avenue.

For the coffee lover: Nook

Much like wine, coffee is a gift where you can’t go wrong, especially if it’s from one of Bushwick’s most popular coffee shops. Buy a few bags of beans, or a gift card. Perfect to replace your Starbucks addiction while we support their employees on strike!

Nook is located at 45 Irving Avenue.

For your significant other: The Rack Shack

Who says the holidays can’t be sexy? Heat things up this winter with the holiday lingerie selection at the Rack Shack. Don’t know your partners’ sizing? Gift them with a fitting done and show that special someone they’ve been wearing a B cup for years when really they need a C. Stocking stuffers and gift cards are also available.

The Rack Shack is located at 17 Thames Street.
