This Friday, you can meet with New York City’s Public Advocate Letitia James to talk about local issues facing this community and all before your Friday night really swings into gear.

What is a public advocate you ask? A public advocate in New York City is first in line to succeed the mayor and acts as a kind of conduit between the electorate and the mayor’s office.

The event is cohosted by Council Member Rafael Espinal and State Committeewoman Darma Diaz at the North Brooklyn YMCA—570 Jamaica Ave. It’s designed to give residents of Bushwick and Cypress Hills (us!) to ask questions about local issues.

If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to get involved in the nitty gritty of local politics/activism and have been waiting since last November for your big shot, this is it. And all you have to do is RSVP and show up to the North Brooklyn YMCA on Friday, March 31 at 6 p.m.
