Spring is traditionally a time of rebirth, but here in Bushwick, we’re seeing a whole lot of the opposite. As of April 30, you will have to say goodbye to a mainstay of the Bushwick Brunch Diet, Cafe Ghia.

Co-owners Anna D’Agrosa and Scott McGibney announced the closure in a heartfelt letter (below and on Facebook).

“Dear Bushwick,

Cafe Ghia will be closing on April 30 after six years (and millions of eggs). It is a bittersweet change for both of us, who are moving on to new chapters in life.

We are endlessly grateful to our current staff and those who have worked with us through the years for generously offering their skills, time, and energy and putting their hearts into the work of feeding and serving our neighbors. We are also so grateful to our regulars. You have made our lives better and brought so much joy. It has been an absolute honor to meet and get to know you all. We are proud of the work we all did and the community that was created here. We are thankful to our family and friends who were incredibly generous to us throughout our year of building and every minute since.

Our hope is that we were able to provide a good place to work, a cozy safe place to relax, a great meal, a smile on a rough day and a place where new friendships could form for as many people as possible in our time on Irving Avenue.

Ghia will be open Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (closed Tues & Weds) through our last day on April 30. We’ll be sharing memories on IG and FB and we’d love to see yours as well, see your faces and give some hugs in the meantime.

THANK YOU.

Love,
Anna and Scott”

Over the past two years, Ghia had undergone a few changes, including opening as a bar at night, scrapping their dinner menu, and offering up private event rentals, but it was always consistently welcoming and delicious. Not a weekend went by without crowds anxiously huddled around its doors.

It will be missed.
