Bushwick Food Coop and the Doe Fund Are Bringing You Brownies to Help Fund Vocational Programs

Bushwick Food Coop and the Doe Fund (of the Ready, Willing & Able program) have partnered to make sure you can satisfy your sweet tooth while also doing good within the community. The profits from a special line of treats made by trainees and graduates of The Doe Fund's Culinary Arts program will benefit the fund's essential employment and training programs for formerly incarcerated and homeless men.

The partnership developed organically since the Associate Director of Food Service Enterprises at The Doe Fund, Jason Finder, also serves as president on the Bushwick Food Coop's board. Furthermore, one of the Doe Fund's transitional housing facilities is down the block from the coop on Porter Avenue, creating a perfect opportunity for collaboration.

You'll be able to get cookies (chocolate chip and white chocolate chip and cranberry) or brownies all week, but they are delivered twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays, so you can snag them when they're fresh for anywhere between one and two dollars.

Alanna O'Donnell of the Doe Fund adds that the trainees in the Culinary Arts program will also be offering an even wider assortment of baked goods and bread at the Bushwick Farmers' Market, every Saturday beginning June 25.
