Nothing about this pandemic has been predictable, but right now things are looking much better than they did just a few months ago.  As the number of coronavirus cases continue to decline, new testing locations have been popping up throughout the city, specifically in hotspot areas made up of low-income and minority communities.

Covid-19 testing is FREE IN MOST LOCATIONS and you do not need insurance in order to be tested (check the full list below to see where free testing is offered).  Yes, if you are uninsured the test is still free.  And as per nychealthandhospitals.org, “you will not be asked about your immigration status and care services are not a public benefit under the public charge rule.”  Patients without insurance may be referred to a financial counselor to enroll them in an affordable plan.  If you have insurance, bring your ID and insurance card and NYC Health + Hospitals will bill your insurance plan.

Governor Cuomo is urging anyone who has participated in the ongoing protests against police brutality to get tested and NYS bulletins are suggesting that all New Yorkers should get tested whether or not they have symptoms or are at increased risk.  If you have already been tested and received a negative test result, consider getting another test if: you begin to show symptoms, you are planning to visit someone who is considered high-risk for severe illness, you recently increased your possibility of exposure, or if you work in a nursing home or shelter.  Results take about 48hrs.  All current testing locations in the Williamsburg-Bushwick-Ridgewood area are listed below.  To see the list of all testing centers city-wide, search through the NYC.gov testing center portal and call ahead of time to find out if testing is free.
