Over the weekend, the NYPD was videotaped arresting a churro vendor at the Broadway Junction station.
In response to the arrest, Riders Alliance is holding a rally today at 12 p.m. at the Broadway Junction Train Station. State Senator Julia Salazar and the Street Vendor Project have organized with Riders alliance and will be rallying for the cause.
The organization tweeted out the details on Sunday. The rally is in protest of over-policing and the organizers are sending a message to Governor Cuomo that ramp up in policing and a crackdown on fare evasions is unacceptable.

One of the organizers of the rally, Senator Julia Salazar showed her support on twitter this morning.
Join us tomorrow! Monday, 12:00PM at Broadway Junction.
We’re rallying for street vendors and for our communities. We all deserve to be able to use transit and share public space without fear of being criminalized. See you there. https://t.co/NHgEYTGV5N
