Sam Cohen, Cochema at The Sultan Room, 8:30 p.m.

Producer and musician Sam Cohen released his second solo LP, The Future’s Still Ringing In My Ears, back in May of this year. Now the record, which showcases his skillful guitar work and penchant for the psychedelic, is getting a proper vinyl release. To commemorate the release, Cohen will be performing in The Sultan Room at Turk’s Inn.

Opening the show is multi-instrumentalist and Dap-King’s saxophonist, Cochemea Gastelum. Gastelum recently released his first album in nearly a decade, All My Relations, a transcendent collection of jazz that explores South Central Mexican culture and spirituality.

eCOCOBOYS are on the rise in Brooklyn thanks to their raw, energetic, and frequent live performances. In conjunction with the release of a series of five demo recordings that blend riot grrrlll, garage-punk, and emo, the band is playing five shows over the next month, starting with a Friday night headlining set at The Footlight. Chicago punk rock outfit Big Mermaid is also passing through town, and locals Period Piece and Isaac Mclang will open up the show.

Saturday, October 12

Frenchkiss Records 20th Anniversary Celebration at Elsewhere, 8 p.m.

New York-based label Frenchkiss Records is celebrating two decades of releasing killer records on Saturday night at Elsewhere. The festivities will span between the venue’s smaller Zone One room and the Hall with performances from Les Savy Fav, Eleanor Friedberger, Drowners, Twen, Tad Kubler (from the Hold Steady) and Diet Cig. The Dodos are also on the bill, and they’ll be playing their classic album, Visitor, in its entirety.
