Pizza. Sauna. Heated tiki bar. Perhaps, beloved neighborhood favorite Roberta’s, is becoming the self-care mecca we didn’t know we needed.
This season Roberta’s will be hosting HotBox Mobile Sauna, a wood-fired sauna on wheels, in their backyard for toasty hangouts. The sauna itself is a 144 square-foot hot box that fits eight to 10 people at a time. Don’t forget to grab your bathing suit and flip flops. Robes are available for rental for three bucks. The sauna is kept at a toasty 180 degrees to sweat out all that 2018 negativity.
Their first weekend will launch Saturday, Feb. 9! They sauna will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. They take reservations online and walk-ins are welcome. You can also book a private schvitz.
They’ll have more hours (nights and weekdays) rolling out starting mid-February. Currently, they plan to stay at Roberta’s until the beginning of April. Stay updated by following their Instagram and Facebook.
The backyard space will also have a traditional cold shower set up for sauna-goers to cool off. They will also set up a “chill tent,” to relax in between sauna rounds. The heated winter tiki lodge in the backyard is accessible for schvitzers and has an array of bites and drinks one could order, including their bread and butter, cheese and meat plates. An array of rotating beers and drinks will also be available.
HotBox is ran by Jackie Aude M and Paula Wegman, who are partners in business and partners in life. The couple promise an inclusive space for all bodies and genders, with upcoming queer sweat sessions and meditations.
It’s an alternative space to get together, be social and celebrate mental well-being, said the owners of HotBox.
If this isn’t a perfect Saturday, then we don’t know what is.
Roberta’s is located at 261 Moore St, Brooklyn, NY 11206 and is easily accessible off the L Train Morgan stop or B60 bus.
