With so much going on in the world today, it’s easy to forget that Independence Day is this weekend. While Coronavirus continues to ravage the country and the third wave of the Civil Rights movement continues to thrive, Ethel’s Club wanted to take a moment to remind New Yorkers that Freedom has Always been for the taking.

Although NYC is starting to open up again, co-working spaces and social clubs like Ethel’s are not quite ready to open their doors to members just yet. However, for this POC focused social club, it was important to continue making space for the creators and entrepreneurs who are building amazing things in our community.

The event, which takes place on July 4, from 12 pm - 7 pm at Ethel’s Club on 315 Meserole Street, is a day of reclaiming Black liberation through a socially-distanced outdoor market and celebration space centering local brands and restaurants by Black people and people of color.

“Ethel's Clubs is always at the intersection of community, commerce, and celebration — It was important that we continued to hold space that honored Black, indigenous, and people of color this 4th of July, by creating an opportunity to directly support their businesses,” said Naj Austin, founder and CEO of Ethel’s Club.

The event will feature music by DJ Gianni Lee, a to-go Menu curated by Aura Cocina and a host of vendors like Printed Pattern People, Naira Ego Home, Spoken Flames, Kelewele, Cas Rum Beverages and more!

If you’re looking to support Black and POC owned business and you’re looking to have a good time this weekend, swing by with good vibes.

All safety guidelines will be followed. Free water, gloves, and masks will be available to those in need.
