Happy Spring, Bushwick!

Our thoughts may be getting warm, but our events are ever-cool. We've got five activities this week that we've curated just for you.

Snap some pics at one of the events below and tag Bushwick Daily on Instagram to have your work included in our weekly photo roundup. We want to see how awesome your life is!

😂 Tuesday: a night of comedy

7:30-10 p.m. at Cobra Club, 6 Wyckoff Ave.

"The Hand of Comedy" is a stand-up event named for the severe wrist tendonitis of host Claudia Cogan, a semi-finalist at Last Comic Standing. The condition kept Cogan from functionality for months, and the only job she could do during that time was telling jokes.

The event features standup from Aparna Nancherla (Corporate on Comedy Central), Phillip Henry (The Tea Party), Wanjiko Eke (Brooklyn Comedy Festival), and Melissa Rocha (CBS Sunday Morning). Cover charge is $5 at the door.

🎨 thursday: paper gems workshop

7-9 p.m. at Paradice Palase, 1263 Bushwick Ave.

Art Brewt is a new monthly program that collaborates with artists to bring demos, workshops, and interactive arts programming at an affordable level to the Bushwick community. This happens under the same drink draw modus operandi that workshops can be fun with a "brew," too. This month Paradice Palase will be hosting a workshop on how to build large-scale paper gems, crystals, and geometric forms - a great activity for nights in with friends or kids. The $10 entry includes all materials to make at least two paper gems. The event is also BYOB.

🎙 Bushwick Community Shine and Open Mic

7-9 p.m. at The Living Gallery, 1094 Broadway

Showcase your individual talents and heritage at The Living Gallery during this free open mic event. All forms of artistic expression and participants of all ages are welcomed.

💃 Friday: Les Femmes fatales opening reception

7-11 p.m. at 3RD Ethos Gallery, 154 Knickerbocker Ave.

This opening reception welcomes a collection of artwork from some of New York City's most badass female artists. DJS The Here & Now Boys will be spinning funk, soul, dance, disco, and house.

🧟 Saturday: the walking dead performance art

7 p.m.-2 a.m. at Michael Alan Studio, 566 Johnson Ave.

This is not a gallery show. World renowned musician Tim “Love” Lee will be performing live for this alternative electro music mashups at Michael Alan Studio where you'll "get sloppy messy and eat each other’s flesh!"

The performances at the studio are improv works in progress and it’s a chance to see the behind the scenes. The event is for all ages except the late session, which is R-rated. Tickets cost $20 per 2-hour session.
