Gov. Kathy Hochul, her running mate Adrienne Adams, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Attorney General Letitia James rallied members of nine labor unions at Medgar Evers College in Crown Heights on Sunday, Oct. 25, to send them door-knocking for Democrats in the final days before the Nov. 3 election.
Mamdani told the crowd that the Republican nominee, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, would cancel universal child care if elected and would “cut Medicaid in half.” Blakeman told NY1 in an Oct. 15 statement that he supports universal child care for working parents. He told Fox Business this summer that he would “cut Medicaid in half” to bring it back to a “reasonable number,” City & State reported, and said at the Oct. 13 debate, “Let me be clear. I never said that I would cut Medicaid in half,” according to amNewYork.
