UPDATE: Be There: The Date is Set for a Bushwick Community Plan Summit

If you're a Bushwick resident, then please attend this meeting!

Mark your calendars, Bushwick: your input is needed at a very important civic meeting.

Since 2013, Bushwick's many community-based organizations, its official Community Board and the neighborhood's local business owners have been working with the New York City Council, the Department of City Planning, Housing Preservation and Development and other city agencies on the development of a cohesive plan for the neighborhood.

The Bushwick Community Plan is not an abstract one, but a set of policies and other guidelines that will help ensure that physical changes to the neighborhood are made with Bushwick residents' best interests at heart.

Last week, Community Plan organizers announced at Community Board 4th's montly meeting that an upcoming 4-hour Plan Summit will take place on Saturday, October 15, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Ridgewood Bushwick Youth Center.

"As a resident of Bushwick, your opinion is important," organizers remind the public in a flyer for the event. "Make your voice heard."

Among the subjects that will be discussed at the meeting are affordable housing, density and land use. Rezoning and the neighborhood's many recent private development initiatives will likely come up as well.

Everyone is invited, and youth are encouraged to attend. There will be light breakfast and lunch served, and simultaneous Spanish interpretation and childcare available throughout.

The Youth Center is located at 1474 Gates Avenue. For more information, contact Bushwick planning at gmail dot com, or call the office of either City Council Member Rafael Espinal at 718-642-8664 or Council Member Antonio Reynoso at 718-963-3141.

See you there, Bushwick!

UPDATE: On Wednesday, October 12, the office of Council Member Antonio Reynoso contacted Bushwick Daily to announce that the summit has been postponed. The new date will be announced soon.
