guacuco

To broaden your gastronomic experiences in Bushwick, Guacuco is not to be missed. This lively Venezuelan eatery offers its signature dish- the arepa, a light corn meal grilled pancake with a crispy exterior and a soft polenta like center that is stuffed with a variety of meats and vegetables. They are good for sharing as they should be considering that each of the 12 varieties are different and equally delicious. The Pabellon, a question of Venezuelan national pride consists of shredded beef, fresh white cheese, sweet plantains and black beans. They are filling, fresh and new, the sauces that accompany the arepas are addictive so be careful, you may be unknowingly staring something that lasts.

The food is great here, but I would allow at least three hours for dinner if it’s busy. There really is never (or rarely) more than one server for the entire restaurant. But a great spot if you have the time and patience!

Thanks for this note. I ate there at less regular times and it was always pretty quick, and delish. Oh and wine…hmmm ;)
